txtSQL

I am trying to integrate txtSQL with cakePHP framework. http://www.cakephp.org/

I am not very knowledgeable about cakePHP, but I did get my first success working. It still needs a lot of work. If you understand cake "datasource" (I don't) then there can be a general proper "cake" solution. The solution now is good, but not true "cake".

What I did. There is a great little CMS for cakephp. Very simple, just pages, great for small sites and uses MySQL foir database.

I was able to with almost no changes to the basic application have it use txtSQL instead. You can see my first try here

WOW, that really is fuckin impressive -- pardon the language. I didn't even know cakePHP could use txtSQL.

I agree cakePHP is impressive, but so is txtSQL!!

By default cakephp can not use txtSQL. But it has its own DB abstraction method. So my goal is to write a txtSQL based dbabstrarction. In cakephp the file would be known as a custom "datasource". So there is a cake "datasource" file for MySQL, SQLLite, and many others but none for txtSQL.

I don't know enough php to even understand what is going on the the "datasource" files! So the solution I wrote is basically just an alternative "Non-cakephp" file interface to txtSQL. But it works! I think the parts I include in each model file (all the same) will become the "datasource".

The interesting part is that if I can succeed, a lot of the relationships and joins that can't be done in txtsql2.2 will be able to do if get the cakephp "datasource" working properly.

If I make more significant progress, I'll post!
